the thing is people often talk about how minecraft steve is the most whitewashed character since jesus christ but never does anyone discuss how they’re perhaps the most misgendered character ever
steve (alongside all the other default skins, for that matter) are referred to with they/them and with gender-neutral language by the developers!

Let the Reader Know Something the Character Doesn’t
This is how you make readers scream at the book. Let them know the murder is waiting just beyond the door. Let them see the traitor slip poison into the drink. Let them watch helplessly as the character walks into a trap. The best tension isn’t just about surprise, it’s about dread.

(smth about fighting to protect what she cares for - in the way she always wanted but was never supposed to)
There was a whole bunch of deep thoughts about this one but it’s late and I just want it off my pile so I don’t keep adding more contrast to the gold bits
I’ll elaborate tomorrow - speculation in the meantime is encouraged :*

the unnecessary search for other people's evidence
I recently returned to the Tumblr community, but I see people demanding results from others and this is "embarrassing", because if you are always looking for proof from people that the law is real, it means that you still doubt the effectiveness of the law in your life, people have every right to leave Tumblr when they get their success stories, they have the right to not want to show their face or any shit about their personal lives, and people are so hypocritical, because I have seen cases of people who were massacred even showing their results, and were labeled as liars, as happened with @/moonlighth0pe (now deactivated) like?? You wanted proof and when you receive it you don't trust it? Because instead of persecuting Tumblr blogs, they don't apply the law in their lives and try to get the shit out of Tumblr's ass and live a little

creating a new identity:
aka; how to build an alter ego / how to create the new you / creating your higher self / create a new version of yourself
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is a guide for people who want to change their life around, and most importantly, change themselves (because obvi to change your life, you must first change yourself first). oki lets get started!!
Tumblr media
3 reasons why you want to change:
first of all name at least 3 reasons WHY you want to create a new identity. some reasons could include:
wanting to get better at school/ higher grades
becoming more social
more stronger
more disciplined
becoming better at something (ex a language, instrument)
if you don't have your 3 reasons on why you want to create a new you, then your desire is probably not strong enough and you won't be able to stay consistent in it.
Tumblr media
create the new you:
give it a name! (you can do this at any point tbh so not really important atm)
choose and decide the aspects of your new identity: (how they think, act, behave, feel. what their hobbies are, their habits, what type of person they are, how they treat others and themselves, etc etc)
write down these aspects in your notes app, notion, blog, docs, (wherever you want to). you don't have to go in full detail but just write everything that you need for this new identity so that if you forget or need to be reminded, you can just check that.* *reminder that you can create more than 1 identity/ alter ego! so for example you may have one thats for workouts/ sports, one thats for studying, one thats for socialising, etc. this means that you don't necessarily need to write other hobbies for an alter ego that is made for working out. you just need to write whats important to that specific identity.
once you've done all this, theres nothing left but to just BECOME. stop over planning and procrastinating, step into the energy of this new version of yourself. channel the energy and enjoy your life!
Tumblr media
tips:
take inspiration from people in real life! this can be celebrities, anyone you've met and admired, movie/ tv show characters (for me; rory gilmore, elle woods, gina linetti), book characters, etc. you don't have to create a new alter ego from scratch, you can just adopt energy of a person that has already been created/ exists.
a signature something. give this new identity a signature scent, outfit, accessory, etc. anything just to give it a bit of a touch/ cherry on top <3

Does Flowey exist in this au?
Yes, he does.
Everything's pretty much the same when it comes to the regular story in this AU. It's just the past, especifically Papyrus' past (wich we don't know much about to begin with) that changes
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Actually Flowey is one of the main characters in the story! (the main story of this au is divided between the past before the game and a post-pacifist timeline:D)
He and Papyrus will have a fun dynamic
-some thought I had in tags behind the keep reading
Tumblr media
Srry for the spelling mistakes in here but I can't go and fix tags because I would end up erasing everything😭tumblr struggles

Tbh at this point, I almost feel sorry for people who ship Bakugou with another character other than Izuku.
I mean, don't get me wrong, ppl can ship whatever they want, but that blonde boy has Izuku on his mind 24/7.

Some Tips for writing internal conflict
Wanting Two Things at Once Imagine your character really wants to chase after something big, like a dream school, a major opportunity, or maybe even moving to a new city. But at the same time, they’re terrified of leaving behind everything they’ve ever known. Or maybe they’re in a relationship that’s holding them back, but they can’t bring themselves to let go. Show them getting pulled in two directions, torn between their ambition and their fear of losing the people or places that ground them.
Right vs. Wrong Sometimes, your character will know deep down what the right choice is, but it’s the most difficult one to make. Like, maybe they see someone getting bullied and know they should stand up, but doing so could make them a target. Or maybe they have to decide between helping a friend and doing something that could ruin their own future. These moral dilemmas create intense internal conflict because it forces them to question who they are and what they stand for.
Doubting Themselves We all have moments where we wonder if we’re enough, smart enough, strong enough, brave enough. Let your character wrestle with that same doubt. Maybe they’re the kid who has always been told they’re special, but now they’re in a place where everyone is just as good, and they start to wonder if they even belong. Or maybe they’ve been through something tough, and they’re not sure if they can bounce back. These moments of insecurity make your character feel human, like they’re trying to figure it all out, just like everyone else.
Dreams vs. Fears Show your character dreaming big but getting frozen by their own fears. It’s like wanting to ask someone out but being terrified of rejection, or wanting to move away for college but being scared to leave home. Let them imagine all the things that could go wrong , that moment when fear makes them doubt if they should even try. But also show their desire burning just as strong, making it impossible to ignore. That’s the heart of internal conflict: they’re stuck between wanting something so bad and being afraid of what it’ll cost to go after it.
Beliefs Being Challenged As your character grows, the world will start challenging their beliefs. Maybe they grew up in a family that drilled certain values into them, and now they’re meeting people who see things differently. Or maybe they’re experiencing something new, and it’s changing their perspective. It’s like when you think you have everything figured out, and then life throws something at you that makes you go, "Wait, maybe I’ve been wrong this whole time." This kind of internal conflict is powerful because it forces the character to question who they’ve always been.
Keeping Secrets If your character is hiding something, like a mistake they made, feelings they’re afraid to admit, or a truth they don’t want to face, that secret becomes a huge part of their internal conflict. The fear of being found out or of dealing with the consequences can create a constant pressure in their mind. Maybe they’re scared they’ll lose their friends if the truth comes out, or maybe they’re dealing with guilt they can’t shake. The tension comes from their battle to keep it hidden while knowing they can’t keep it locked away forever.
Pressure from Everyone Your character might feel like they’re trapped between what they want for themselves and what everyone else wants from them. It could be pressure from parents, who have their whole future planned out, or pressure from friends to fit in or follow the crowd. Maybe your character wants to be true to themselves, but they’re scared of disappointing people or standing out too much. This kind of internal conflict is super relatable because, at some point, everyone feels like they’re stuck between living for themselves and living for others.
Fear of Failing Sometimes the biggest obstacle isn’t the external challenge but the internal fear of failure. Your character might have big dreams, but they’re paralyzed by the thought of messing up. Whether it’s competing in a sport, performing on stage, or just trying something new, the fear of not being good enough can be overwhelming. Maybe they’re afraid that if they fail, everyone will see them differently, or worse, that they’ll see themselves differently. The internal conflict comes from their desire to succeed battling against their crippling fear of failure.

i just want to let you know, as someone who has been following HAT for several years now, it's so inspiring seeing you continue to work on this story! as someone who also has my own obligations outside my creative projects, it's incredibly moving to see you still at it along with your school! keep on!! 👍👍👍
I had to sit with this ask for a bit, because I really needed to hear this.
I'm about to get sappy, so bear with me.
There have been many times when I was frustrated with my own work and with myself. I wished I had been less ambitious, that I was a better coder/planner. I felt embarrassed by how long it was taking me, and I'll admit that I watched newer and more productive IFs with envy. Two things kept me from abandoning HAT, especially when school, work, and life in general began occupying more of my time.
The first thing is that I really love this story. I love it on my best days, and I love it even when my writing doesn't feel up to par. I think about it often and while I know I'll tweak and change it, I'll never abandon it.
The second thing is readers like you. Y'all have made me feel so much less alone, and it brings me more joy than I could have imagined sharing this story with you. There are days when I fret over pacing, days when I fill the page with my fatigue, and yet y'all have been with me for years. It's one thing to throw something out into the world. It's something else to have people respond with love and a belief in you.
So thank you. I hope you never give up on your creative projects and that, if you want, you share them with the world. (With me too!!)
Thank you for rooting for me and know that I'm rooting for you too!!
